Hello! Welcome to my latest posts and as we end the quarter, it's time for some reflection. This entire quarter was filled with new topics and the ways I can apply to my current and future work. Prior to this class, my LinkedIn account had gone a couple years since being updated and now I feel much more confident interacting and engaging with content on this site.
I took a look back on the work that was most popular and to my surprise, my blog "How to organically conquer social media" was the most viewed. What interested me the most was the types of occupations the viewers held. There was Education Administrators, IT Support Specialists, Research Fellows, and marketing specialists. Digital marketing just as other aspects of Marketing are not limited to just professional Marketers. A Digital Marketing background can prepare you for a multitude of professions. Below I dive into my favorite aspects of the quarter!
Certifications , Analytics, Social media & Content
There were 3 required certifications for this course, the Google Analytics IQ, Hootsuite, and Hubspot Inbound Marketing. Becoming certified from these companies was something I thought to be inaccessible to students so I'm glad to be aware of the many opportunities available.
In terms of Analytics, research & data are a part of marketing that has intimidated me for some time and going into Google AdWords and the Google software was no different. There was many times this topic was broken down from A/B testing, google analytics, conversion rate optimization, buyer personas for inbound strategies and more! It was really helpful in building a bigger picture of how they all work together to complete objectives.

What has stuck with me is the ability for unknown brands to garner huge followings because of social media , no big budgets, just innovative and disruptive content that attracts and delights! Unpaid social and fresh content can have huge impacts. This quarter I began an internship with a Shot of Truth Podcast, a show centering stories from undocumented people across the country. Being on such a small team (there is 4 of us!) there is only so much we can do and this class has really helped me in setting a vision and goals for my position. Whether it is starting with basic google analytics, link building, or creating content - every topic provides a way for me to better improve our marketing efforts.
With graduation approaching I can't help but to think about my future roles in digital marketing and social marketing. My work with the Podcast is already proving to me that continuous learning, development, and flexibility is needed for this role. This class has left me excited for the future in digital marketing and open to the opportunities that may come. Although I know a part of my work will always be centered on my community and the ways I can give back to support those who will come after me.
Till next time!
